Warsaw R-IX faculty were awarded grants during our professional development day, August 15. The Warsaw Education Foundation, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, and Benton County Youth Coalition recognized the following teachers: Kayce Porterfield, Eini Harris, Rachelle Yoder, Amber Glenn, Shannon Alcantara, Roxana Eckhoff, Kari Winters, Amanda Adler, Teresa Flores, Janet Conner, and Ally Richardson. Congratulations to these grant winners! We appreciate the support of our community organizations in providing additional funding opportunities for our schools.

Benton County Smart Start Back to School Fair is today, 8/10, from 3pm to 6pm at the John Boise Middle School.
Our school district is going through a transition with our student information system. Please be patient as we work through the transition. There will be more information about the parent portal at a later date. We are moving from TylerSISK12 to Infinite Campus.
The Warsaw R-IX School District is excited to welcome back Mr. Nathan B. Copling! Mr. Copling says, "I am excited to be back in the Warsaw School District! This will be my tenth year of teaching overall, and my fifth year in the Warsaw School District. I will be teaching High School Social Studies courses with a Middle School course sprinkled in. I will also be leading the High School Academic Team." In his spare time, Mr. Copling enjoys reading historical monographs and musician/bank biographies, drinking coffee, and spending time with his wife watching reality TV, and working in the yard. The Warsaw R-IX School District is excited to welcome Jonna Arnett to our Wildcat Family!
Mrs. Arnett will be the new district social worker, office located in the middle school. Jonna graduated from Warsaw High in 2011, then obtained her bachelor's degree from UCM in Health Studies with an emphasis on Community Health and a minor in Psychology. Jonna obtained her Masters in Teaching in 2020 and spent six years teaching social studies for the Lincoln R-2 district.
Jonna has spent time working in mental and behavioral health in both adults and children and has provided direct care to individuals and families in her experience as a community support specialist.
Jonna is married to Hadley Arnett, a Warsaw native and together they have one sweet and spunky three-year-old, Blaire. Jonna enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, reading, and helping others!

Office hours for all school buildings are 7:30am to 4pm (Tues-Fri).
New student enrollment starts Aug 8th from 8am to 3:30pm.
Updated enrollment of current students will be announced by each building.
Edit: Percussion and Color Guard camp begins July 31 at 8:30.
Warsaw High School Band Camp begins July 31 for percussion and color guard only. The following week the rest of the band will have camp from Aug 7-11 from 8:30-3:30. Students need to bring a lunch and a water bottle.
School offices will open Wed, Aug 2nd for questions about enrollment, to update addresses & phone numbers, or for specific needs. You can contact your school offices beginning Wed, 8/2 with questions. Each building will post their hours. Open House will be Aug 17 from 5-7pm.
The Warsaw R-IX School District is excited to welcome Mr. Brent Shaffer to our community! Mr. Shaffer will be teaching middle school social studies and will be an assistant high school girls basketball coach for the 2023-24 school year.
Mr. Shaffer has been in education for 31 years, 20 as a junior high/high school teacher and coach, and 11 years as the Principal of South Barber School District grades 7-12.
Mr. Shaffer is looking forward to getting back in the classroom at Warsaw and the daily interaction with students. He is also looking forward to helping coach the girls high school basketball team.
Mr. Shaffer is coming to us from the Kiowa, Kansas area is excited to be moving closer to his mother and grandchildren. Brent is married to Teresa and they have three daughters, Maurissa and her husband Tom, who live in Martin City, Alexis and her husband Cameron, who live in Alva, OK, and daughter Idallis, who resides in the Kansas City area and recently graduated from Kansas State University where she completed 5 years in the Varsity Rowing Program. He has 3 grandchildren from daughter Maurissa, who is currently deployed in Kuwait. His daughter Alexis is expecting her first child in January. Mr. Shaffer has always loved sports and enjoys watching and going to games in person.

The Warsaw R-IX School District would like to welcome Nina Sprouse as our new high school business teacher! After graduating from WHS, Nina completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Education and Master of Science in Secondary Education--Social Studies from Central Missouri State University. Over the past 29 years, Nina has taught Business, Computer Science, Social Studies, and Gifted Education courses in both public and private schools. In her free time, Nina likes to read and swim. Her son, Ryan, is also a graduate of WHS. Nina is looking forward to returning to her alma mater and helping the next generation of students pursue their dreams.

JBMS VOLLEYBALL NEWS:
We hope you all have enjoyed your summer & we look forward to seeing everyone next week at Open Gym.
Open gym sessions are as follows:
July 25th-July 27th and August 1st-3rd
Time: 9-10:30
Location: MS Gym
*Please drop off & pick up your athlete at the back door of the MS gym. The front doors of the school will be locked.
Athletes need to come prepared with:
•Volleyball shoes
•Knee Pads
•Appropriate volleyball attire (spandex or shorts and a t-shirt *no cut off tops allowed)
•Water bottle filled
*All jewelry needs to be left at home or removed and placed in your bag before practice starts.
Reminder: Please join the TeamApp and request access to JBMS Volleyball to get updated information as it arises.

The Warsaw R-IX School District is excited to announce that Mrs. Ally Richardson will be joining the staff at North Elementary this fall as a 4th grade teacher! Ally will be in her eighth year of teaching, with her last seven years spent as a Montrose Bluejay. Ally is a 2007 graduate of Warsaw High School, and is married to her high school sweetheart, Aaron, and they have two children, Aniston and Axel. When she is not at her kids' activities, Ally can be found swimming, kayaking, reading a book, or watching Chiefs football. Ally is looking forward to being back in Warsaw and showing her Wildcat pride, both inside and outside of the classroom.
