After more than 40 years of dedicated service to our students, staff, and community, Coach Burke is wrapping up his journey as a Wildcat employee—but he will always be part of the Wildcat family! 👏🏼🚌 From the court to the front seat of the bus, his impact has been felt for generations. South Elementary 1st graders have spent the last few weeks diving into an ELA unit all about life cycles—exploring how plants, butterflies, and frogs grow and change. Through a blend of nonfiction texts and hands-on activities, students: 🤪Created grass creatures with wild and wacky hairstyles 🦋Built butterfly life cycles using pasta (who knew science could be so delicious?) 🐸Welcomed two tadpoles into the classroom, lovingly named Travis and Taylor This cross-curricular adventure has sparked curiosity, creativity, and a whole lot of smiles. Yesterday morning, our Parents as Teachers Connection group welcomed a special guest—Tammy Culpepper from Missouri Extension! She shared fun and educational insights about the five food groups and how each one helps our bodies stay healthy. 🐣🐤🤩South Elementary preschool students had some special visitors last week! A big thank you to Mrs. Anita Campbell for bringing in baby chicks. The kids had an awesome time gently handling the chicks, which were only a few days old! #WildcatExcellence

South Elementary 3rd graders have been learning about life cycles in science. They each created a project to showcase the unique life cycle of a specific animal or insect. From eggs to adults, their creativity and curiosity truly shined! #WildcatExcellence #LifeCycle #Science

All students and staff are safe. During this afternoon's route, bus X caught fire with only one student on board. Thanks to the quick actions of our driver, Charlie, both he and the student were unharmed. We're grateful for his calm and swift response.

🐒🦍🦁🐘🐼South Elementary Kindergarten enjoyed a beautiful day on their field trip to Dickerson Park Zoo! The students had a blast riding the bus, seeing and feeding the animals, and wrapping up the day with lunch and playtime at a nearby park. It was a fun-filled day full of great memories! South PTO Fundraiser Announcement: The South PTO team will be at the South Gym from 3:30 to 5:30 pm this evening to distribute orders from the recent trash bag fundraiser. Please park and enter the back entrance on the east side of the gym.

🐾In partnership with physicians from Bothwell Regional Medical Center, we will be offering free physicals during school hours on Tuesday, May 13th.🐾 Who should participate: 👉🏼5th grade students planning to participate in middle school sports next year. 👉🏼6th–11th grade students with an expiring physical Important Reminders: 👉🏼5th graders received forms to take home. To ride the bus to the high school, a completed form must be submitted to the school office by 5/13. 👉🏼6th–11th graders with an expiring physical were also sent home with forms. Please return them to the school office by 5/13. 👉🏼Need another copy? Forms are available in the JBMS/HS offices or online: https://5il.co/3dis0 ❕To participate in any MSHSAA activity, student-athletes must have a current MSHSAA Medical Eligibility Form on file. This free physical opportunity ensures your student is eligible for their sport or activity.

Mark your calendars! All 3rd-5th grade students will be MAP testing from 4/29-5/16. If a student misses a testing day, make-up testing is required, which may result in missing out on fun activities. Rewards parties will take place for students who have good attendance during testing.
