South Elementary’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been working on Fingerprint Poems in Mrs Applegate’s Art classes the past few weeks. The projects integrated creative writing skills (story telling, sentences and onomatopoeias) and art (creative way of forming the writing, small icons, and coloring the fingerprint) in one project. 🎨✍️#WildcatExcellence

Students in Mrs. Jelineks 3rd grade class worked with partners on a math scoot (problems around the room where they “scoot” to each one). It made working on three digit addition and subtraction word problems fun! 🔢➕🔢➖🔢 #WildcatExcellence

4th graders in Mrs. Richardson's class have been discussing text features & how they help readers better understand nonfiction texts. They put their brains to the test and found different text features in Scholastic News magazines, cut them out & labeled them. #WildcatExcellence

4th and 5th grade students from South Elementary spent the day in Cole Camp participating in antique tractor and machinery exhibits. Students learned how sorghum is pressed, how wheat is trashed, and the evolution of the chainsaw from the old hand pulled saw to modern day chainsaws. Students watched demonstrations for some of the first motorized wood mills, apple presses for making cider, and how pioneers relied on windmill energy to power water pumps. Throughout the day they experienced the role that agriculture played in rural life in the past and how it still plays a part in our lives today. #WildcatExcellence

Students from South Elementary have begun earning Wildcat PAWs (Praising Awesome Wildcats) bucks this year as a reward to use in our Positive Reinforcement School Store. Many students wanted to use these PAWs bucks to purchase books in the book fair. Earlier this week, 184 PAW's bucks were spent by South students towards the purchase of books from the book fair. It's so rewarding to see students excited about books and reading so much that they use their own hard earned PAWs bucks. 📚🐾 #WildcatExcellence

North Elementary 1st graders have been learning about firetrucks all week. Today they had the opportunity to be up close in personal with a real firetruck. Special thanks to the Warsaw Fire Department for making this possible! #WildcatExcellence

North Kindergarten classes enjoyed a field trip to Gordan's Orchard. #WildcatExcellence

Pictured: 7th grade sculpture students doing blind continuous contour line drawings in preparation for a wire portrait project. They could not look at their paper once they started their line. Paint jugs were first m, then they drew the person across from them. They even talked Mr. Gemes into staying and joining in on the fun! ✍️🎨 #WildcatExcellence

Students in Mrs. Gemes' 8th grade sculpture class have been creating clay pumpkins to get into the fall spirit! #WildcatExcellence
