The Warsaw R-IX Board of Education met November 19, 2025 for its regular monthly meeting.
The meeting began with student, staff, and community recognitions. The recipients included Jordan Dove from Warsaw High School and Juliann Lomax from South Elementary as Student Spotlights; Casey Creekmore – Classified Staff Member of the Month; Kari Winters – Certified Staff Member of the Month; and The Warsaw Leathernecks – Wildcat Pride Award recipients.
Program Spotlights
The Library Department and Counseling Department both presented overviews of their programs. The library presentation highlighted advisory committee members, procedural policies, current inventory, and ongoing initiatives across all district buildings. The counseling presentation focused on how our district counselors support Success Ready Students, including recent updates, areas of success, and goals for continued improvement.
Budget & Financial Updates
Superintendent Scott Gemes reviewed the October budget report and provided a comparison of the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 actuals to date. The district’s audit review was tabled pending completion of the Federal Single Audit impacted by the federal government shutdown. Preliminary audit reports show no concerns.

Other New Business & Board Approvals
The Board discussed district updates from the MARE Conference, where Board member Rich Chiles received his certificate for completing 18.5 hours of required school board training.
Board approvals began with setting the Board Candidate Filing Dates, approving the surplus disposal of old band storage units, and approving the purchase of the district’s old copiers. The Board also approved the purchase and installation of new playground equipment for PROP KIDS projects, along with a list of additional PROP KIDS projects made possible through remaining funds. Finally, the Board approved the creation of two new positions for the 2026–2027 school year: JBMS Assistant Principal and Gifted Teacher.
The Title I Services MOU with Cornerstone Academy was tabled at the academy’s request. A PROP KIDS project and budget update was also reviewed, with the presentation now available on the district website under the PROP KIDS section.
Personnel Updates
During closed session, the Board accepted the retirement of one staff member, the resignations of three staff members, and approved six new hires.
