The Warsaw R-IX Board of Education met January 21, 2026 for its regular monthly meeting.
The meeting began with student, staff, and community recognitions. The recipients included Gavin Steenburgen from John Boise Middle School – Student Spotlight; Ashley Haidusek – Classified Staff Member of the Month; Amanda Adler – Certified Staff Member of the Month; and Warsaw Flower Shop – Wildcat Pride Award recipient..
Program Spotlight
Parents as Teachers presented an overview of their services and support provided to families with children 4 years old and younger across the district. The Parents as Teachers program review highlighted strong progress during the 2025–2026 school year, including 224 home visits, 76 developmental screenings, and support provided to 59 families serving 67 children. The program has connected families to 45 community resources, referred 14 children for developmental delays in accordance with program guidelines, and hosted six group connections — including the popular “Things That Go” event, which drew more than 300 attendees from across the region.
Budget & Financial Updates
Superintendent Scott Gemes reviewed the December budget report and year-to-date financials, along with a Fund 4 budget review, which aligns with the district’s CSIP goals.

Other New Business & Board Approvals
The Board approved the certification of no board election for the upcoming cycle, as three candidates filed for three open positions. The Board also completed its annual Board Self-Assessment and approved the results.
In addition, the Board approved the extension of Superintendent Scott Gemes’ contract through the 2028–2029 school year.
Personnel Updates
During closed session, the Board accepted the retirement of four staff members, effective at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. The Board also accepted the resignations of three staff members and approved the hiring of five new staff members.

The next regular meeting of the Warsaw R-IX Board of Education is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the HS/JBMS Library.
