JULIANN

Juliann Lomax is a fifth-grade student at South Elementary, and she was the clear standout in this month’s nominations for our Student of the Month spotlight. Staff members shared overwhelming praise for her academic excellence, leadership, and remarkable character.

Here are some things teachers said about her when nominating her for this spotlight:

“When we started our narrative writing unit, Juliann committed to writing a 120-page novel this year using Google Docs. Based on what she's already accomplished so far, I not only believe she will finish it—I think she may very well be on her way to the New York Times best-seller list. The quality of her writing is what I would expect from a high school sophomore. She has achieved proficiency in nearly twice as many ELA skills as anyone else in 5th grade. In addition to her academic prowess, she is also very kind, helpful, and compassionate. As her homeroom teacher, I honestly cannot say enough positive things about her as a student!”

“Juliann consistently excels in IXL, takes every opportunity to read diligently, and serves as an excellent role model to all her classmates. Every word she speaks is kind and supportive. She has on many occasions helped struggling classmates master a skill or clear up confusion, and she makes every effort not only to complete her work on time each day, but to give her best effort in all academic pursuits.”

"Juliann is an outstanding student in both academics and character. She works hard, makes thoughtful choices, and lets her actions speak for her. She is one of our top math students in 5th grade, always completing work that is neat, accurate, and thorough. Beyond academics, she is an amazing friend and a positive role model for her peers."

Another teacher shared this moment that shows exactly who Juliann is:

"When told she had been nominated for the Board Spotlight Student award, her teacher explained the honor and the character traits recognized. In her typically humble fashion, Juliann looked surprised and said, “This sounds like an award that [another student] should win,” immediately thinking of a classmate she felt was deserving.

This simple comment captures the humility, compassion, and positivity that make Juliann so special. She embodies everything we hope to see in our students and is truly deserving of recognition as South Elementary’s Student of the Month."

Way to go, Juliann! Thank you for representing WHS with leadership, excellence, and Wildcat Pride. We’re so proud of you!
